A Word from our Moderator
As this year’s moderator, I extend a warm welcome to all visitors to the Presbytery of Dumbarton’s website. I trust you will find the information you need, and enjoy discovering something about our congregations and ways in which we live out our faith in God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
As you will see, the presbytery covers a wide area and includes congregations worshipping and serving in a variety of settings: rural, coastal, town and suburban. We are united by our faith and our desire to serve God and our local community. Consisting of men and women, younger and older folk from all sorts of backgrounds, and holding a range of views, we are part of the worldwide church.
You are welcome to worship in any of our congregations.
Installation of new ModeratorPictured at the Installation of the new Moderator at Bearsden Westerton on 14 June 2016 are Dr Iain Galbraith, the retiring Moderator, Georgie Gilbert, the Presbytery Officer, and the Rev Dr. Christine Goldie, Moderator for 2016-17.
After the Installation Presbytery shared together in the Sacrament of Holy Communion, led by Dr Goldie, before enjoying the hospitality of the folk of Westerton Church.
The Presbytery Clerk is the Rev David W Clark. David retired in 2014 after 28 years as minister in Helensburgh (and latterly at Rhu & Shandon) and now attends to most of Presbytery’s administration. He is also a member of the General Trustees of the Church of Scotland.
All matters and queries concerning Presbytery should be directed to the Presbytery Clerk in the first instance - either through the contact page on this website or to David’s phone number of 01389 849319.
Next Presbytery Meeting
The next meeting of Presbytery will take place at Dumbarton Riverside Parish Church on Tuesday 7 November 2017 at 7.30pm. In addtion to dealing with regular 'ordinary' business, this will be a conference meeting on the theme of the 'Path of Renewal' programme of the Church of Scotland and members of congregations within Presbytery are invited to attend to learn of this programme of development of congregational life and witness.
